Hydrocarbon Engineering,

GE Oil & Gas has recently announced that it has signed a new contract with CLH Group. GE Oil & Gas is set to provide remote monitoring and diagnostics for CLH Group’s centrifugal pump fleet at its plants in Mora, Adamuz, Loeches, Monzalbarba and Torrejon in Spain.

Collect and transfer data from CLH sites

The system will collect and transfer data from CLH sites to the GE Oil & Gas Monitoring and Diagnostics Centre where the company will analyse the pumps’ performance, identify anomalies, and provide advisory services and actionable recommendations to optimize operations.

Beneficial to both CLH Group and GE Oil & Gas

CLH Group will benefit from increased uptime of centrifugal pumps as the deal will introduce the first remote centrifugal pump monitoring to be applied in those facilities, thereby optimising machine performance with analytics.

GE Oil & Gas will be able to to monitor and verify pump functionality and identify potential issues. This will assist with reducing failures and to increase machine availability for CLH.

This project illuminates how oil and gas companies can leverage the data acquired through condition monitoring – using sensors and advanced analytics – to improve uptime and reliability, thereby reducing overall costs and increasing production to drive profitable growth.

Comment from CLH Group

“Deviations from required operating specifications can critically impact machine performance and, left unchecked, do excessive damage to both machines and systems,” said Basilio Navarro, CLH’s General Manager, Technology and Innovation. “Early detection and management systems and the ability to monitor remotely can dramatically reduce the downtime and costs associated with machine damage”. The introduction of RM&D systems will enable CLH to centralise machine management and make it much more effective.”

Comment from GE Oil & Gas

Roberto Baccani, General Manager of Pumps, Valves and Systems (PVS) business at GE Oil & Gas said: “This project will introduce our OEM expertise and analytics into the operations of CLH Group’s plants, by providing them with remote monitoring and diagnostics to keep their pumping systems running better and longer. We believe these kinds of arrangements can really help customers like CLH realise better value in their processes and we look forward to getting the system running and starting to see results in the coming months.”
