The Philippines

Petron has announced that construction of Phase 2 of the Refinery Master Plan (RMP-2) project is now in the finishing stages and precommissioning reoutines are now ongoing. The expansion will result in the Bataan refinery processing 180 000 bpd when operating at full capacity. The world is expected to be complete and full commercial operation underway by the start of next year.

Saudi Arabia

Kentz Engineering and Construction has announced that it has been awarded a contract for in plant work support services at the US$ 19 billion Sadara petrochemicals plant. The complex is currently under construction at Jubail Industrial City. As part of the contract Kentz will supply manpower, management, supervision, skilled labour, construction and maintenance equipment, as well as small tools, consumables, procurement and equipment and material supply. Once the above is complete Kentz have said that they will also be involved in the support construction, commissioning and startup activieties of the facility.

USA

The Dakota Prairie refining facility, which is currently under construction is now US$ 50 million over budget, however, the plant remains on track to be online by December this year. The refinery is being built in western North Dakota and is a venture between MDU Resources and Calumet Speciality Products LP. The 20 000 bpd plant was originally expected to cost US$ 300 million but is now expected to cost in the region of US$ 350 million. The plant is now 60% complete and has been in construction since the first quarter of 2013.

Matrix Service Company has announced that it has been ranked number 56 in the US by Engineering News-Record (ENR) magazine in its annual Top 400 General Contractors edition. ENR also recognised Matrix as the number 16 contractor in the petroleum sector and as a top 50 contractor working abroad, for its work in Canada. This is the seventh consecutive year Matrix has been ranked among the Top 100 contractors by ENR.

Vietnam

It has been reported that the Dung Quat refinery has been shuttered for two months for planned maintenance. Power down at the 140 000 bpd, Binh Son Refining & Petrochemical Co. Ltd. owned facility began earlier this month and work was officially scheduled to commence on 19th May. This is the second turnaround maintenance period the refinery has undertaken since its opening.
