Hydrocarbon Engineering,
Last week, the thousandth truck was loaded with LNG at the Gate terminal on the Maasvlakte in Rotterdam. This important milestone has been achieved within two years of the opening of the truck loading facility.
Since its start in 2014, 15 customers have used the loading platform for trucks. Truck freight has experienced a strong growth in all market segments: industrial applications, but also as a cleaner fuel for trucks, for inland vessels and for sea-going vessels. In 2014, 174 trucks and containers were loaded with LNG, in 2015 this number increased to 788. A second platform is currently being constructed. Small scale LNG is growing strongly. Other facilities for the distribution of LNG from Gate are also currently being constructed, such as the special harbour basin with corresponding transfer installations.
