A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, and Ken Kobayashi, Chairman of the Board of Mitsubishi Corporation, took place at the Gazprom headquarters on 18 October.
The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation as part of the Sakhalin II project, focusing on the construction of the third train of the LNG plant. The development of the FEED documents for the third train is nearing completion.
Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation is engaged in manufacturing and marketing of various products (including equipment), project financing and coordination, and management consulting. Russia's only LNG plant is in operation under the Sakhalin II project. The Sakhalin II operator is Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd (Gazprom – 50% plus one share, Shell – 27.5% minus one share, Mitsui – 12.5%, and Mitsubishi – 10%). In 2015, the plant produced 10.8 million t of LNG, exceeding the design capacity by 1.2 million t.
