CH2M Hill

CH2M Hill has been recognised by the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) as its Outstanding Employer of the Year for 2014. This award is given to companies that make outstanding contributions in advancing and improving the engineering profession through its employment policies and practices. The award was announced at TSPE’s annual meeting on September 26. At the same meeting Robert Cook, PE, also of CH2M Hill, was named Outstanding Engineer of the Year by TSPE, recognising his achievements and contributions to the engineering profession.

Cook said, ‘CH2M Hill has long been known as a firm deeply committed to the communities in which we serve, and to fostering success for our employees and the engineering profession. We believe in investing in professional expertise and in supporting our employees as community citizens and their volunteer service. Receiving this recognition as a firm, and for me personally as Outstanding Engineer, confirms the leadership our firm and our employees provide in the engineering profession.’

GE

Demonstrating how GE’s advanced technology, project expertise and skilled workforce are helping petrochemicals producers upgrade their facilities worldwide, GE Oil & Gas has announced that its Downstream Technology Solutions (DTS) business has received the International Project Management Association’s (IPMA) 2014 Project Excellence Gold Level Award for its role in upgrading Italian petrochemicals operator Versalis’ Priolo ethylene plant in Sicily.

Completed in January of this year, the project represented a major strategic investment for Versalis to improve the 30 year old Priolo plant’s energy efficiency, production line capacity and availability while minimising production downtime. The facility’s cracker has the capacity to produce 790 000 tpy of ethylene. Milan based Versalis is the chemicals business of ENI, headquartered in Rome.

Lloyd’s Register

Lloyd’s Register Energy has won one of the most prestigious industry awards for its global employee collaboration and knowledge sharing programme, called Global Energy Transformation (GET). John Wishart, Director, Lloyd’s Register Energy said, ‘we believe that harnessing and sharing the expertise and talent which exists within our business is a fundamental way in how we enhance the service and support we provide to our clients. The award winning GET programme has driven positive change inside and outside of our business.’

Ian Stokes, Chief Executive of the British Quality Foundation said, ‘winning an Achievement Award is a tremendous result for any organisation. Lloyd’s Register Energy impressed the independent judging panel with its commitment to engaging with its employees at every opportunity.’

LNG America

LNG America has announced an agreement with Buffalo Marine Service, Inc. to cooperate on the design of an LNG bunker fuel network for the US Gulf Coast region. LNG America is developing a hub and spoke delivery system for LNG as fuel for the marine market and other higher horsepower applications. Ultimately, LNG America will establish a robust delivery infrastructure to ensure the secure and safe delivery of LNG as fuel in major US ports. Buffalo Marine is one of the premiere bunkering companies in the Gulf of Mexico with over 50 vessels dedicated to bunkering in the region.

Keith Meyer, President and CEO, LNG America said, ‘combining the bunkering experience of Buffalo Marine with our LNG experience and our progress towards building the infrastructure necessary to support LNG bunkering will help us to provide the best possible service to the emerging LNG fuelled marine customers while using the best safety practices available from both industries.’
