Canada
The Come by Chance refinery is now up for sale, and was confirmed by The Wall Street Journal. The sale is part of the Harvest Energy’s parent company Korean National Oil Company deciding to divest itself of all its assets in Canada.
Today a ceremony will be held to mark the official ground breaking of Canada’s newest refinery. The plant will be constructed in Edmonton. It has been 30 years since the last refinery was built and the new project is estimated to cost US$ 5.7 billion. The plant is being built by North West Upgrading Inc.
USA
According to a filing made with state regulators, Motiva Enterprise LLC is going to perform work on its sulfur unit. This work is going to be carried out during a 63 day plant turn around at the Convent refinery in Louisiana. A sulfur varient running from September 4th until 20th November has been granted to the plant.
Venezuela
The Venezuelan oil minister has said that it was sabotage that caused the explosion and fire at the Amuay refinery. The explosion killed 40 people in August last year. A government report has shown that saboteurs caused a gas leak which led to the explosion on purpose.
