US gasoline and diesel prices: Week ending 17th March 2014

Gasoline

The average price for US regular gasoline was US$ 3.55/gal. as of 17th March 2014. This represents an increase of four cents on a week ago, but 15 cents less than the same time last year. West Coast prices increased by six cents to US$ 3.81/gal. Midwest and Gulf Coast prices increased by four and three cents from last week, to US$ 3.57/gal. and US$ 3.28/gal. respectively. The East Coast price of US$ 3.52/gal. was up three cents on last week.

Diesel

Average US in-highway diesel fuel price decreased to US$ 4.00/gal. as of 17th March, down two cents on last week, and four cents less than the same time last year. East Coast, Midwest and West Coast prices all dropped by two cents, to US$ 4.14/gal., US$ 3.99/gal. and US$ 4.02/gal. respectively. Rocky Mountains and Gulf Coast prices each decreased by one cent, to US$ 3.99/gal. and US$ 3.80/gal.

Propane

The average residential propane price decreased by approximately 9 cents/gal. last week, to US$ 3.08/gal. This is almost 77 cents higher than for the same period last year. Wholesale propane prices decreased by nearly 6 cents/gal. to US$ 1.37/gal. as of 17th March.
