Bilfinger

The engineering and services group Bilfinger has extended its number one position among German industrial services companies. This was the result of the just published Lunendonk Study for the year 2013. Bilfinger had already been ranked first by a wide margin in previous years. In the current ranking, the market leader was able to further extend its advantage over its domestic competitors.

The volume generated by Bilfinger in its industrial services business on the German market grew to 841 million euros. The ranking also shows that Bilfinger continues to have the highest international share among German provides in this sector in the past year, primarily in Europe and the US. With a 47% share of Group output volume, Industrial is Bilfinger’s largest business segment.

CB&I

CB&I has been awarded a contract valued in excess of US$ 50 million by Daelim-Petrofac JV for the design and supply of delayed coking, hydrocracking, crude and vacuum heaters and a steam reformer for the Oman Refineries and Petrochemicals Company LLC (Orpic) project in Sohar, Oman. Under separate contracts with Orpic, CB&I provided the process technology for the delayed coker unit and its Chevron Lummus Global joint venture provided the technology for the hydrocracker unit. CB&I also performed the FEED, as previously announced, and is serving as project management consultant to Orpic for the project.

Daniel McCarthy, President, CB&I Technology Operating Group said, ‘we have successfully executed a range of projects for Orpic. This is another contract that emphasises our ability to provide a complete supply chain solution for our customers.’

Cheniere Energy

Cheniere Energy, Inc. has announced that its subsidiary, Corpus Christi Liquefaction, LLC, has entered into an LNG sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with Electricite de France SA (EDF) under which EDF has agreed to purchase approximately 0.38 million tpy of LNG upon the commencement of operations of Train 2 of the LNG export facility being developed near Corpus Christi, Texas, and increasing to approximately 0.77 million tpy of LNG upon the commencement of operations of Train 3. The Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project is being designed and permitted for up to three trains, with aggregate design production capacity of 13.5 million tpy of LNG.

Under the SPA, EDF will purchase LNG on a free on board basis for a purchase price indexed to the monthly Henry Hub price plus a fixed component. LNG will be loaded onto EDF’s vessels. The term of the SPA will extend for 20 years beyond the date of first commercial delivery of the third train of the Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project, with an extension option of up to 10 years. Deliveries from Train 3 are expected to occur as early as 2019.

Curtiss Wright

Curtiss-Wright Corporation’s industrial division has announced a further strengthening of its global distribution network with the appointment of GB Automotive Ltda, who will represent the Industrial Group product brands in Brazil.

With independent sales partners throughout Brazil and offices in Itu and Santos near Sao Paulo, GB Automotive, the South American partners of Global Alliance Automotive, represents many significant component manufacturers in the Brazilian market with a customer portfolio that boasts prestigious OEMs including BMW Group, CAT, Eaton, John Deere and Mercedes-Benz.

US DOE

The US Department of Energy has announced US$ 3.5 million of investments for an algae project aimed at accelerating the development of sustainable, affordable algal biofuels. This research project supports the Department’s goal of producing 2500 gal./y of algal biofuel feedstock per acre by 2018, an important milestone toward reducing the cost of algal biofuels to cost competitive levels of 5000 gal./acre/y by 2022.

Cellana, LLC, in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, was selected to receive the investment to develop the fully integrated, high yield algae feedstock production system by integrating the most advanced strain improvement, cultivation, and processing technologies into their operations at their Kona Demonstration Facility.
