Clariant signs ethylene supply agreement with OMV

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

Clariant has announced that a long term supply contract has been established with OMV. From 2015, the Austrian oil and gas company will supply Clariant’s site in Gerndorf, Germany, with ethylene. This agreement will enable Clariant to source most of its requirement for ethylene in southern Bavaria.

The Clariant site in Gerndorf is part of the Industrial & Consumer Specialities (ICS) Business Unit and is the Business Unit’s largest production site, with approximately 700 employees. Clariant produces ethylene oxide at the site, for which ethylene is a major raw material. Ethylene oxide is used to manufacture over 500 products on the site for use in crop care, home care, personal care and industrial applications such as lubricants and construction chemicals.
