Saudi Arabia

Satorp has announced that it expects its new refinery planned for the Jubail Industrial City to be fully operational by the end of this year. The plant is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Total and will cost approximately SR 52.5 billion. The facility is expected to almost double Saudi Arabia’s refining capacity.

It has been reported that in 2012, Saudi Arabia produced 86.4 million t of petrochemicals. This is a substantial increase of 3.1 million t on production in 2011. This figure means that Saudi Arabia produced 60% of petrochemical products manufactured in the Middle East region during 2012.
