US gasoline and diesel price movements: Week ending 13 October 2014

Gasoline

The US average price for regular gasoline was US$ 3.21 as of 13 October 2014, down nine cents from the previous week, and 15 cents lower than the same time last year.

The greatest decrease was in the Midwest, down 11 cents to US$ 3.08/gal., while the Gulf Coast followed with a decrease of 10 cents to US$ 3.01/gal. The Rocky Mountains average dropped nine cents to US$ 3.34/gal. The East Coast price decreased eight cents to US$ 3.23/gal., while the West Coast fell seven cents to US$ 3.54/gal.

Diesel

The US average diesel fuel price decreased four cents this week to US$ 3.70/gal., 19 cents less than the same time last year, and the fifteenth consecutive week of flat or declining prices, according to the EIA.

The Rocky Mountain, East Coast, and West Coast prices all declined four cents, to US$ 3.75/gal., US$ 3.71/gal., and US$ 3.89/gal., respectively. Both the Midwest and Gulf Coast prices decreased three cents to US$ 3.64/gal.

Propane

US propane stocks increased by 0.7 million bbls last week to 81.4 million bbls as of 10 October 2014, 14.9 million bbls (22.4%) higher than a year ago.

East Coast inventories increased by 0.3 million bbls and Gulf Coast inventories increased by 0.2 million bbls. Midwest Inventories and Rocky Mountain/West Coast inventories both increased by 0.1 million bbls.

Propylene non-fuel use inventories accounted for 3.0% of total propane inventories.
