New refinery and storage construction plans
Venezuela
The Venezuelan government has announced that it has interest in constructing two refineries, one in India and one in Venezuela. This is a follow on from a recent exploration contract that has been signed by the two countries.
Nigeria
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and China State Construction and Engineering Corporation Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of three Greenfield refineries and a petrochemicals facility. The companies are hoping to raise US$ 28.5 billion worth of funds. Nigeria is committing to the construction of these facilities as it hopes to cease all imports of petroleum products by 2020.
One refinery will be built in Lekki, Lagos, one in Bayelsa State and the third will be built in Lokoja, Kogi State. Each facility is expected to process 750 000 bpd.
Singapore
JTC Corporation, Singapore is putting in motion plans to construct a floating oil and petrochemicals storage facility in Pulau Sebarok. A consultant is now looking in to the engineering, procurement and construction plans and the feasibility study was completed and approved in March. JTC hope that the facility will store up to 300 000 m3 of oil and petrochemicals.
