Canada

The CFSW joint venture, which includes Foster Wheeler and partners, Chiyoda, Saipem and WorleyParsons, has been awarded a contract by LNG Canada for the provision of FEED and project execution services for a proposed LNG export project, known as LNG Canada Project, in Kitimat, British Colombia. The LNG Canada Project is planned as a phased development initially comprising two processing trains, each with a production capacity of 6 million tpy of LNG.

Kazakhstan

The Milan Fired Heater team has won a contract for the engineering and material supply of new Terrace Wall steam reformer heater, including an air preheating system, for the KazMunayGaz oil refinery in Atyrau. The steam reformer will be part of a hydrogen production unit with a capacity of 24 000 Nm/h to be built at the refinery. The hydrogen plant is based on Foster Wheeler’s hydrogen technology and the scope of work is scheduled to be completed in April next year.

Mexico

Together with joint venture partner for the projects, Altair Strickland LLC, Foster Wheeler have been awarded contracts by Pemex Refinacion for the EPC, commissioning, and startup of slide valve systems on the Foster Wheeler delayed coker units at two refineries in Mexico: the Hector R. Lara Sosa refinery in Cadereyta, and the Francisco I. Madero refinery in Ciudad Madero. The slide valve systems will be supplied by Curitss-Wright.

Russia

Glencore Oil Projects has awarded the company the engineering and material supply of a Terrace Wall steam reformer heater for hydrogen production for its Orsknefteorgsyntez refinery in Orsk. The scope of work is scheduled for completion in the second quarter of 2015.

Singapore

Singapore’s annual Workplace Safety and Health Awards (WSH) recognise companies and individuals at the national level for their commitment and outstanding performance in WSH. This year, Foster Wheeler’s Asia Pacific operation won six. The winners were honoured at the WSH Awards 2014 gala dinner on July 18 hosted by the WSH Council and supported by the Ministry of Manpower. The event was officiated by Minister for Manpower, Tan Chuan-Jin at Marina Bay Sands Convention Centre.

The Singapore operation has been awarded an EPCm services contract by Afton Chemical Corporation for a new chemicals additive manufacturing facility to be built at Afton’s manufacturing facility on Jurong Island. A ground breaking ceremony was held on 25 June. The scope of work is scheduled for completion in the second half of next year.

South Africa

The South African operation has been awarded its seventh consecutive National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA) Five Star Grading, the very top award for a company’s HSE systems. Graded against the internationally acclaimed NOSA Integrated Five Star System, businesses can be awarded between one and five stars as a symbol of occupational risk management excellence.

South Korea

Foster Wheeler have been awarded the FEED for a residue upgrading project at S-Oil Corporation’s world scale Osan refinery in Ulsan. The upgrade of the refinery includes the addition of a residue hydrodesulfurisation unit, a residue fluid catalytic cracker, and multiple downstream upgrading units to enable the refinery to produce more higher value products and, in particular, maximise production of polymer grade propylene.

Thailand

Foster Wheeler’s Thailand operation has achieved 60 million man hours without lost time injury (LTI) for the period of October 2005 – May 2014. Some of the milestones that made up this achievement included:

  • Esso Srirach refinery, providing Esso Thailand Refining & Supply for over 20 years.
  • Chevron Bangladesh.
  • Thaioil Sirarcha, FEED and EPCm for Emission Improvement.

The Thai operation has been awarded a FEED and project management contract by PTT for a petroleum and petrochemical research building at the PTT Innovation Park, Wangnoi District, Ayutthaya Province. The project is being executed by Foster Wheeler Thailand and PTT Energy Solutions, for PTT Research and Technology Institute.

The Thailand operations has been awarded a FEED contract for Bangchak Petroleum Public Company’s (BCP) new Efficiency, Energy and Environment Project Phase 1. BCP intends to improve refinery operations by modifying the existing refinery and installing a new continuous catalyst regeneration reformer.

Turkey

The Milan operation has been awarded a contract by STAR Radineri AS, a subsidiary of SOCAR Turkey, for project management consultancy services for the new 10 million tpy Aegean Refinery Project to be built adjacent to the PETKIM facilities at Aliaga. Site preparation is well advanced and the engineering and procurement phase is being executed in the contractors’ office in Spain, Italy and South Korea.

UK

The Reading operation has received, for the seventh successive year, the prestigious Order of Distinction Award for Occupational Health and Safety from the UK’s Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). The Order is RoSPA’s highest achievement award and is only presented to those companies which have attained at least 15 consecutive RoSPA Gold Awards for outstanding health and safety performance. The Reading operation has received 21 consecutive awards.

Foster Wheeler was once more awarded the British Safety Council Sword of Honour for health and safety management excellence. The UK operation was one of 68 organisations who won in 2013, the 34th consecutive year of the award. The winners have all been recognised as having exemplary health and safety systems that are among the best in the world.

USA

Earlier this year, the US operation held an opening ceremony for a new Construction Project Staffing Centre in La Porte, Texas. The centre was built for recruiting and hiring construction talent to serve a growing number of construction projects in the chemical and refining industries on the Texas Gulf Coast.

Vietnam

Foster Wheeler have won a contract to design and supply a CO incinerator package for a residue fluidised catalytic cracker for the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical (NSRP) complex. The contact was awarded by JGC Corporation (UK) Ltd, which is acting on behalf of the EPC consortium for this US$ 9 billion complex to be built in the Nghi Son Economic Zone.
