World’s most innovative companies
Air Products has been applying innovative solutions to energy, environment and emerging market needs for more than 70 years and this has earned the company recognition as one of the world’s most innovative companies by both Thomson Reuters and Forbes magazine.
The Reuters list
Air Products made its debut on the 2013 Top 100 Global Innovators list, an initiative of the IP Solutions business of Thomson Reuters. The initiative has developed in 2011 and honours the 100 companies and institutions around the world that are at the heart of innovation as measured by a series of proprietary patent related metrics. The methodology is based on four main criteria;
- Overall patent volume
- Patent grant success rate
- Global reach of portfolio
- Patent influence as evidenced by citations.
Among the chemical industry sector, Air Products is the only industrial gas company represented on the list.
The Forbes list
Air Products was included on The World’s Most Innovative Companies list. The methodology for compiling successful companies relies on investors’ ability to identify firms that expect to be innovative now and in the future based on an established innovation premium metric. Since the list’s inception in 2011, Air Products has earned a spot on it.
Comments from the CEO
‘Innovation is deeply rooted in our culture, beginning with our founder, Leonard Pool, who started the company on what was then a revolutionary idea, the onsite concept of products and selling industrial gases, said John E. McGlade, chairman, president and CEO of Air Products. ‘The company’s people are passionate about understanding their customers’ challenges and delivering unique, sustainable solutions that help them boost energy efficiency, increase productivity, enhance product quality, and improve environmental performance.’
