Mid December: Maintenance and construction update
India
Indian Oil Corp is looking to build a refinery off the cost of either Gujarat or Maharashtra. The facility will help IOC hit its capacity expansion figure of 100 million tpy. The company are looking to spend Rs 30 000 crore on the plant.
Iran
The Iranian Oil Ministry has announced plans to build a refinery near the Caspian Sea. The feedstock for the plant is expected to be that located from the sea bed.
Kazakhstan
During this month, a modernisation phase I contract for the Pavladar petrochemical plant is to be signed. The IP contract will include basic engineering and equipment supply as well as a manufacturing period.
Mexico
Tecnimont has been awarded a US$ 191 million engineering and procurement contract by Braskem-Idesa. The contract is for the construction of a 300 000 tpy low density polyethylene unit to be built at the Veracruz state Ethylene XXI petrochemical complex. Completion is scheduled for mid 2015.
Nigeria
Nigerian National Petroleum Company has shut down its Kaduna refinery and Petrochemical complex for two weeks of maintenance. The maintenance work is being carried out on the facility’s catalytic reforming unit which has been experiencing leaks.
Trinidad and Tobago
Mitsubishi Corp. is planning to build a methanol to petrochemicals complex in Trinidad. The plant will be located in La Brea and use 100 million ft3/d of natural gas as a feedstock. The plant requires an investment of US$ 850 million.
USA
SNC Energy is seeking to build a refinery in Winston County, Mississippi. The plant will have a production capacity of 120 000 bpd and will create 5200 jobs in the local area. Construction is tentatively slated for 2013.
The Navajo refinery in New Mexico is expected to employ 1000 temporary staff to help with maintenance work. Maintenance work will start in early 2013 and is likely to last between a month and six weeks.
