Alon Energy

Alon USA Energy has announced that it has received the necessary approval from the Kern County Board of Supervisors to construct a new rail facility at the Bakersfield refinery and make modifications to the refinery that will allow it to process light crude. The permit allows Alon to construct a double rail loop capable of receiving two unit trains per day of crude.

Paul Eisman, CEO and President, said: “We are very pleased to receive this permit for our Bakersfield crude flexibility project and grateful for the community’s support for this initiative. With this approval in hand, we are ready to start detailed engineering”.

AMETEK

AMETEK has announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Gretchen W. McClain as a new director of the Company. McClain most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer for Xylem, Inc.

Frank S. Hermance, AMETEK Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented: “We are pleased to welcome Gretchen to AMETEK’s Board of Directors. She is an experienced business executive with a string technology background and experience that nicely complements an already strong Board of Directors. I am confident she will make important contributions to the Board and the Company as we continue our strong growth”.

Cameron

Cameron has announced that Scott Rowe is to assume the newly created position of President and Chief Operating Office (COO), effective 1 October 2014. In his new role, he will report directly to Jack Moore, who remains Chairman and Chief Executive Office of the company.

Moore stated: “Scott has led significant parts of our operations for the past six years in two of our segments. His proven track record in improving the operations in each of those segments will serve Cameron well as we continue our multi-year margin expansion program”.

Additionally, effective January 2015, Jim Wright has elected to retire from his role as President of the Valves and Measurement Group following 35 years of distinguished leadership. He will be succeeded by Doug Meikle. Doug currently serves as Vice President, Operational Excellence on Cameron’s executive leadership team.

SPX

SPX has been awarded a contract to supply its APV brand cooling water heat exchangers for five new power and desalination plants in Saudi Arabia. The light crude powered plants have capacity up to 2500 MW and 550 000 m³/d.

The order is for the supply of 15 XL range Z155 APV heat exchangers with titanium plates for auxiliary seawater cooling water duty.

UOP

UOP LLC, A Honeywell company, has announced that its Oleflex^TM technology has been selected to produce key ingredients to help meet the growing demand for fuel and petrochemicals in China.

Shandong Shouguang Luqing Petrochemical Co. Ltd will use Honeywell’s UOP C₄ Oleflex process technology to produce isobutylene, a key ingredient in high octane fuel and synthetic rubber.

Pete Piotrowski, senior vice president and general manager of UOP’s Process Technology and Equipment business unit said: “China needs to produce more isobutylene to support its rapidly increasing consumption needs, so we are pleased to announced another C₄ Oleflex license to help meet this need. Oleflex technology is proven to have the smallest environmental footprint, the lowest cash cost of production, and the highest return on investment compared with competing technologies, and we look forward to continuing to offer this value in China and other parts of the world”.
