US gasoline and diesel price: Week ending 8 September 2014
Gasoline
According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), the US average price for regular gasoline as of 8 September 2014 was US$ 3.46/gal., down less than one cent from the previous week, but 13 cents lower than the same time last year.
The West Coast price decreased two cents to US$ 3.77/gal., while the Rocky Mountains price decreased one cent to US$ 3.63/gal. The East Coast price fell less that a cent to remain at US$ 3.41/gal. The Midwest and Gulf Coast prices both increased less than one cent, rising to US$ 3.44/gal. and remaining at US$ 3.22/gal, respectively.
Diesel
The US average price for diesel fuel was unchanged from the previous week at US$ 3.81/gal., 17 cents lower than the same time last year.
The EIA highlighted that there was little change in regional prices across the nation, with the Gulf Coast showing the largest change at a half cent decrease, but remaining at US$ 3.71/gal. The Midwest price decreased less than one cent to remain at US$ 3.75/gal. The East Coast, Rocky Mountains and West Coast prices each increased less than one penny, to remain at US$ 3.84/gal., US$ 3.87/gal., and US$ 4.03/gal., respectively.
Propane
US propane stocks decreased by 0.1 million bbls last week to 76.0 million bbls as of 5 September 2014, 11.5 million bbls (17.9%) higher than a year ago.
Gulf Coast inventories decreased by 0.6 million bbls and East Coast decreased by 0.2 million bbls. Midwest inventories increased by 0.6 million bbls while Rocky Mountains/West Coast inventories remained unchanged.
Propylene non-fuel use inventories represented 4.7% of total propane inventories.
