Preston Brook based construction and maintenance services company Hertel UK has announced that it has reached 5 million hours without a lost-time incident at Essar Oil UK, Stanlow. Included in the landmark is contracted maintenance work and planned shuts downs in various services such as access solutions, thermal insulation, asbestos management, and corrosion protection.
In order to celebrate this safety landmark, Hertel is donating £1000 to charity, which will be split between two charities: STEPS, which offers support to those affected by a lower limb condition, and Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
Hertel UK’s Operations Director, Paudie Somers, said: “These landmarks are only reached because the team has remained focused on maintaining the highest safety standards for themselves, colleagues and others at the site. It shows the importance of remaining vigilant and never becoming complacent about safety in the harsh environments in which we work”. The members of the Hertel team each received a commemorative fleece in order to mark the achievement.
