Hydrocarbon Engineering,

Refining

During the week ending 6 June US crude oil refinery inputs averaged over 15.5 million bpd which is 510 000 bpd less than the average the previous week. Over the week refineries operated at 87.9% processing capacity. Gasoline production also dropped last week and averaged 8.9 million bpd. Distillate fuel production averaged at 4.9 million bpd.

Imports

US crude oil imports averaged 7.1 million bpd, an increase of 23 000 bpd from the previous week. Over the last four weeks, crude oil imports have averaged 7.1 million bpd, 8.1% over the same period year on year. Total imports for motor gasoline averaged 560 000 bpd and distillate fuel imports averaged 106 000 bpd.

Commercial inventories

Commercial crude oil inventories in the US decreased by 2.6 million bbls from the previous week. Standing at 386.9 million bbls, US crude oil inventories are in the upper half of the average range for this time of year. Total motor gasoline inventories increased by 1.7 million bbls and are in the middle of the yearly average. Finished gasoline inventories decreased while blending components inventories increased. Distillate fuel inventories saw an increase of 0.9 million bbls but are at the lower end of the average range for the time of year. Propane/propylene inventories increased 3.4 million bbls over the week and are in the upper average range. Total commercial production inventories increased by 6.2 million bbls.

Petroleum products

Total products supplied over the last four week period averaged 18.8 million bpd, an increase of 1.6% year on year. Over the same period motor gasoline product supply averaged 9.1 million bpd, an increase of 2.8% year on year. Distillate fuel product supplied averaged 4 million bpd over the same period, an increase of 1.1%. Jet fuel product supplied is up 5.5% compared to the same period last year.
