Applied LNG

Applied Natural Gas Fuels, Inc. has annoulced that it has changed its name to Applied LNG. Cem Hacioglu, President and CEO said, ‘whether in liquid form or as a feedstock for CNG applications, production, distribution and marketing of LNG has historically been the focal point of our company. As we increase our LNG production capabilities and expand our distribution footprint throughput the US, we wanted our name to better reflect our business model and express our belief in the important role LNG will play in meeting America’s future energy needs.’

Chevron

Chevron Corporation is increasing its support to the Niger Delta Partnership Initiative (NDPI) Foundation. Chevron is committing an additional US$ 40 million over five years to expand a portfolio of programs and partnerships that have successfully promoted economic development, improved the capacity of civil society institutions, and helped reduced conflict in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region since 2010. The additional funding brings the total social investment in NDPI to US$ 90 million, the single largest in the corporation’s history.

Established in part through a fiver year US$ 50 million endowment by Chevron in 2010, NDPI is a special purpose foundation designed to work in partnership with other donors from the public and private sector, creating dynamic, multi stakeholder partnerships to collaboratively support a range of projects designed to help reduce poverty and conflict in the Niger Delta region.

Honeywell

Honeywell Process Solutions has announced that it has been selected by Suncor Energy to provide automation systems for a new multi billion dollar Fort Hills Oilsands project in Alberta, Canada. Honeywell will supply technology to integrate the site’s control and safety systems, manage alarms, and provide advanced simulation software that enables critical operations planning and operator training. As the main automation contractor, Honeywell will play a key role in helping the facility achieve its future productivity and operational efficiency goals. The facility is expected to be operational in late 2017.

Frank Whitsura, VP, Honeywell Process Solutions said, ‘choosing an automation provider is a critical decision, one that you will live with for years to tome. Honeywell has a proven track record of reducing risk on projects of this magnitude, delivering on time and on budget, and contributing to the ongoing safety, reliability and efficiency of the operation and lowering overall lifecycle costs.’

Occidental Petroleum

Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY) has named Robert Peterson as President of its wholly owned subsidiary Occidental Chemical Corporation (OxyChem), succeeding Chuck Anderson, who will retire on July 31 2014. The appointment of Mr Peterson, who has served as Senior Vice President, Basic Chemicals, since 2009, will be effective as of August 1.

Sandvik

The Chinese market is of great importance to Sandvik, which is why the company has opened a new R&D centre in the country. The centre is situated in Zhenjiang and will bring Sandvik closer to its customers, providing better and faster support, and will make it easier to identify new market needs and develop new products in close cooperation with Chinese customers. The R&D centre is close to Sandvik’s tube production unit in Zhenjiang and is part of the company’s global R&D organisation.

In September, Sandvik will inaugurate a new centre for customers, visitors, students and researchers in Sandviken, Sewden, The 4500 m2 building will be hosting the development of tailored tooling solutions for customers, as well as sharing advanced knowledge and machining solutions. Some 6000 visitors are expected annually. Sandvik has more than 30 centres around the world. The new facility in Sandviken, with its design and digital infrastructure, will act as a model for the company’s future centres.
