New CNG facility for Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW)

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) is currently in the construction phase of a compressed natural gas (CNG) station, scheduled to open in July of this year. This will be MLGW’s second CNG station in its service area.

MLGW opened its first CNG station at its north service station in July 2013. The new US$ 2 million refueling station is to be located at its south service station and will be equipped with four lanes and two high flow nozzles, allowing for quicker refueling of commercial verhicles.

MLGW President, Jerry Collins, commented: ‘In March, we sold 10 000 gal. of compressed natural gas. We’re seeing growth every month. When we build this new facility, we anticipate having three firms that have long haul tractor-trailer trucks to be filling up at the new station. Those three firms alone are going to be 20 000 – 40 000 gal. of CNG a month’.
