Australia
ABB
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Engineering has appointed ABB the main electrical contractor for a new floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel at the Ichthys oil and gas field in the Timor Sea off Western Australia.
The deal is worth AUS$ 30 million, and is the third major contract ABB has been awarded for the Ichthys oil and gas project.
Shell
Shell has announced plans to sell its last remaining Australian refinery. However, if a buyer is not found by the end of 2014, the refinery will instead be converted into a fuel import plant.
Closure will lead to job loss for the 450 employed at the refinery. Conversion to a fuel import terminal will reduce this loss by 50 – 100.
Indonesia
Indonesian oil and gas company, Pertamina, and Thailand’s PTT Chemical Public Company Limited have announced plans to build a new refinery, for which investment is estimated at US$5 billion.
Malaysia
Ebara International Corporation has won a contract with JGC, Yokohama, Japan. Its cryodynamics department will deliver 12 cryogenic pumps and expanders for the Malaysia LNG Train 9 project.
This additional train will have a capacity of 3.6 million tpy of LNG per year and is scheduled for completion in line with the planned facility completion date at the end of 2015.
Iran
The Iranian government has announced plans to build a new petrochemicals hub in the port city of Chabahar, funded by $20 billion of investment.
Russia
Ryazan
The TNK-BP Ryazan refinery is now operating as normal following a recent fire affecting its crude distillation unit.
Yamal Peninsula
Technip has been awarded a contract to carry out engineering, supply, construction and commissioning of an integrated facility for natural gas liquefaction by JSC Yamal LNG. The project is due to commence immediately.
The facility has a planned production capacity of 16.5 million t and will be located in the South Tambey Gas Condensate field on the Yamal Peninsula.
