Hydrocarbon Engineering,

According to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), four refineries in Nigeria have reopened for production. NNPC has also injected 37 million l of dual purpose kerosene to boost the product’s presence in the domestic market.

In a statement to the press, Dr Levi Ajuonuma, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division of the NNPC, revealed that Nigeria will still need to import refined products in order to supplement local production and meet the country’s requirements.

Dr Ajuonuma said: "Last week, when we announced the re-streaming of the Warri refinery, I mentioned that the Kaduna would soon commence production. I am happy to announce that both Port Harcourt and Kaduna refineries came onstream on Friday and Monday respectively. This development is bound to boost the kerosene and diesel supply situation.”
