Petrochemicals
Qatar’s Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry has announced that the country is looking to expand its petrochemicals industry. The country is looking to increase total petrochemicals production to meet a 28 million tpy target by 2014.
Iran is also looking to increase its petrochemical output. The Director of National Iranian Petrochemical Company has announced that the petrochemicals sector is looking to export 17.9 million t of petrochemical products and an investment of US$ 5.2 billion across the Iranian sector will increase the country’s output to 10.5 million t.
Refining
The Iranian refining industry is also increasing its capacity steadily. The country produced approximately 44 million ltrs/d of gasoline during 2009 and expects output to increase to 70 million ltrs/d by 2012. Iran has also increased its reserves of gasoline by 1 billion ltrs in the past year.
Petrotech
The Middle East Petrotech will this year be patronised by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Kalifa. The conference and exhibition is taking place in Bahrain from 23 – 26th May 2010.
