Rabigh II contract awarded
Yokogawa Electric Corporation has announced that Yokogawa Saudi Arabia has been selected as the process control system supplier for the Rabigh II project. Investors Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical lead the project. Yokogawa will supply the CENTUM VP production control system and the ProSafe-RS safety instrument system for the petrochemical facility. This contract follows on from Yokogawa’s success in the Rabigh I project. With parts I and II combined, this is the largest Middle East project Yokogawa has ever been involved in.
Following the success of Yokogawa Saudi Arabia since its founding in 2006, the subsidiary has expanded its facilities in the Dhahran Techno Valley. The expanded campus allows Yokogawa to manufacture specific elements of its control systems as well as execute engineering projects.
Rabigh II project
The Rabigh II project, by expanding the ethane cracker and building a new aromatics complex, will use an additional 30 million ft3/d of ethane and approximately 3 million tpy of naphtha as feedstock to produce a variety of high value added petrochemical products. Each plant will be brought on stream as it becomes available for operation, beginning in the first half of 2016.
