Hampshire oil refinery gives air ambulance service a boost
A Hampshire oil refinery has helped to kick start an air ambulance funding campaign with a £10,000 donation.
ExxonMobil Fawley Refinery Base has become one of the first companies to offer their support to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight’s Air Ambulance Minutes Matter campaign.
The charity receives no government funding, but costs £125,000/month to run.
The aim is to raise £1.5 million in order to enhance the life saving service; ensuring that it is able to offer vital treatment to critically ill patients at the scene of an accident at any time of day or night.
A total of £820,000 has been raised to date.
The huge investment offered by ExxonMobil will allow the charity to extend flying hours, moving towards the goals of flying 24 hours/day throughout the year. It will additionally assist in meeting the target of having a doctor on board for every mission and upgrading the helicopter so that it can fly at night.
A framed Gold Level Certificate was presented to Refinery Manager, John Blowers, by charity Patron Mrs Ailsa Montagu, in acknowledgement of ExxonMobil’s contribution.
