The Harris Pye Engineering Group has won a turnkey contract from PX Ltd to modify the combustion system at Fellside Power Station in Cumbria to meet the new IED emission requirements of NOX less than 100Mg/Nm3. The 188MW Fellside CHP plant provides critical process steam to the adjacent Sellafield nuclear reprocessing facility, and exports electricity to Sellafield and onto the National Grid.

“We will be supplying new burners for the auxiliary boiler at Fellside, a new burner management and control system, and undertaking installation and commissioning on this turnkey project,” explained Harris Pye’s Technical Director, Chris David. “Design is underway, manufacturing started at our Llandow plant in South Wales last month (June), with delivery scheduled for September; and installation and commissioning will take place over a two week period in November. We won the contract against tough competition, our ability to produce all the required equipment and services on a turnkey basis using our own labour and factory ensured a cost effective solution for PX Ltd. We are looking forward to working with them on this project.”
