Sudan refinery deal
CNPC of China is expected to sign its final deal with Sudan for the expansion of the Khartoum oil refinery. Domestic demand is growing rapidly and more processing capacity is desperately needed, especially after Petronas withdrew financing for the Port Sudan export refinery.
Khartoum refinery currently produces 100 000 bpd and this imminent contract will ensure two further expansions of 50 000 bpd to double the facility’s capacity. Sudan’s current total output is 500 00 bpd.
Angola refinery plans
The Indian Petroleum Minister has signed an agreement with Angola to construct a new refinery in the region as well as bid for oil and gas projects domestically and internationally.
Under the agreement the Indian company Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, in partnership with the African company Sonangol will bid for exploration contracts. Also, Indian Oil Corporation will seek to construct a refining facility in the country.
