CH2M Hill

CH2M Hill employees have donated US$ 250 276 to Water For People as part of the company’s annual Workplace Giving Campaign. This is the largest amount ever raised for Water For People through a single corporate employee campaign, surpassing the company’s previous record of US$ 231 000. Contributions came from 21 countries on six contents.

EPA

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final GHG Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) construction permit to the OCI Beaumont LLC, methanol and ammonia plant in Nederland, Texas. Once completed the plant will have two modified reformers, a new prereformer, prereformer heater, flare and saturator column. The new additions and modifications will increase methanol production to 3000 tpd. The project is expected to bring US$ 83 million to the local community.

ExxonMobil

Partick T. Mulva, vice president and contoller of ExxonMobil Corporation, has announced his intention to retire on September 1, after more than 38 years of service. Mulva, 63, joined Exxon Company USA in 1976 as a financial analyst at the company’s refinery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and went on to hold a variety of financial positions of increasing responsibility in the upstream and downstream operations.

HIMA

To serve customers and partners in Brazil, HIMA has formed HIMA Seguranca e Controle Critico Ltda and in August will open an office in Sao Paulo. The Brazilian company is HIMA’s sixteenth subsidiary. Among other services, the subsidiary will provide systems assembly, safety application software programming and testing, onsite acceptance tests, and commissioning and startup devices.

Carlos Gebauer Neto, General Manager Brazil said, ‘our newest subsidiary reflects the increasing importance of Brazil in the worldwide economy and our desire to provide customers in the region with local support and meet local content requirements. Working in cooperation with our local partners, HIMA Seguranca e Controle Critico will supply best in class services and support to help companies manage the safety lifecycle of their plants, pipelines and machines.’

Linde

Holly Jerdi has joined Linde as head of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE). She is responsible for all HSE activities in North and South America. Jerdi’s most recent role was Global EHS Director for Ingersoll Rand. Prior to that, she was Global EH&S Director for United Technologies Corporation with responsibility over 20 countries and 15 000 employees. She has a BS in Science and a MS in Engineering Management, both from Western New England University.

Her extensive background and experience in health, safety and environment will be critical to meeting our goals as a high performance organisation and our vision to be the leading gases and engineering company.’

SG Preston

SG Preston (SGP) has announced the planned development of a 120 million gal. renewable diesel facility in Lawrence County, Ohio. The SGP South Point facility will have total investment of US$ 400 million, create 100 permanent jobs and be the world’s largest purpose built producer of renewable diesel upon completion, which is estimated for 2017.

A key component of the facility’s development is the licensing by SG Preston of advanced process technology which has been successfully proven at commercial scale at other locations. This advanced technology efficiently converts waste feedstock into renewable diesel, which is chemically identical to petroleum based diesel and can be used as a drop in replacement in vehicles with no modifications. Moreover, this technology allows SGP to customise its biofuel offering by adjusting fuel characteristics to meet various operating environments of the end user without diluting energy content in the fuel blend. This technologically advanced process also delivers lifecycle reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared with diesel from petroleum.
