American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) President Chet Thompson has responded to the introduction of the Food and Fuel Consumer Protection Act of 2016:
“AFPM strongly supports the Food and Fuel Consumer Protection Act of 2016, and applauds the leadership of Congressmen Flores, Welch, and the bill’s other sponsors to address the blend wall, clearly one of the most problematic aspects of the Renewable Fuel Standard. The EPA will no longer be required to set annual ethanol mandates that breech the blend wall, or the point in which ethanol can safely be used by all vehicles and retail infrastructure. While we believe that full repeal is warranted, this legislation is a step in the right direction and would provide needed protection to consumers from the harmful effects of exceeding the blend wall.”
