Vermeer by McLaughlin hole hammer tools

Gas, cable, electric, water and irrigation projects can be tackled with ease using Vermeer by McLaughlin Hole Hammer piercing tools.

The new VPT 250 Short model allows for work in tight areas, such as congested urban areas and metropolitans. The VPT 250 Short is a positive-turn reverse design with a shorter body, so contractors can dig a more concise entry and exit pit for a more efficient job site and have less impact on surrounding neighborhoods.

The overall length of this new 2.5 in. diameter piercing tool is only 35 in., compared to the standard 2.5 in. tool, which is 59 in. Though shorter in length, it is long on power with 720 blows per minute versus 385 blows per minute with the standard length tool. This version of the positive turn tool is popular in the Northeast US and Europe, and where shorter bores in medium soils are encountered.

The positive-turn reverse design lineup has minimal moving parts and is available in 2, 2.5, 3 and 4 in. (5, 6.4, 7.6 and 10.1cm) sizes. An innovative tailbolt design provides for excellent rear anvil clamping force and only requires a maximum of 35 ft-llbs of torque. The replaceable head design is made from CNC machined heat-treated alloy to protect the tool body and can be replaced to extend the tool body life cycle. Additionally, the design runs one of the heaviest striker-to-body weight ratios in the industry, boasting maximum power and performance.

Vermeer by McLaughlin Hole Hammer line also features air-on quarter turn reverse design available in 1.8, 2, 2.5, 3 and 3.3 in. (4.5, 5, 6.4, 7.6, 8.4 cm) tools with both a replaceable head and moving head designs. Increased production and accuracy can be found with the moving head design, which provides full striking force of the piston to the head of the tool, pulverizing stones in the surrounding soil and is reset after each blow with the mechanical spring reset. The residual energy created is used to help the tool body travel through the compacted bore path. This results in both increased production and improved accuracy in tough soil conditions.
