Petrobras' Board of Directors have approved the final investment decision (FID) for the Presidente Bernardes Refinery (RPBC) Biorefining project. The project entails the construction of a dedicated plant for producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and renewable diesel at the RPBC in Cubatão, São Paulo, with an estimated investment of approximately US$1.2 billion.

With this approval, Petrobras will move to the final contracting phase, with construction expected to begin by the end of 2026. The project is included in the 2026 - 2030 Business Plan and, taking into account the company's financing conditions, has been placed in the Base Implementation Portfolio.

The plant will have a production capacity of up to 15 000 bpd of renewable fuels (SAF and renewable diesel), with operations scheduled to start in 2030.

The project aligns with Petrobras' commitment to leading a just energy transition in the country and with the aviation sector's global commitments to comply with CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) regulations and the "Fuel of the Future" Law (Law No. 14.993/2024).
