TotalEnergies to utilise AspenTech Inmation across industrial sites

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

TotalEnergies has selected AspenTech Inmation™ to collect and centralise millions of real-time data points from the company’s industrial sites worldwide, ensuring secure and unified access to data.

TotalEnergies will also roll out Aspen Technology’s advanced process control solutions across its exploration, production, refining, and chemicals businesses. Aspen DMC3™ will optimise upstream processes to improve throughput, increase yield, and reduce energy while Aspen GDOT™ will help improve margins and achieve sustainability objectives in multiple refinery sites by integrating planning, scheduling, and advanced process control.

The objective is to harness the value of that data to enhance decision-making, specifically through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), and optimise operational efficiency, energy use, and environmental performance at TotalEnergies sites worldwide, thereby continuing to supply more reliable and sustainable energy.

The digital infrastructure, which also includes Emerson’s advanced process control solutions, will subsequently allow TotalEnergies to deploy AI use cases.

This rollout is planned over a two-year period and will ultimately enable TotalEnergies to extract more value from its data by:

  • Accelerating the detection of anomalies and performance degradation.
  • Optimising energy consumption.
  • Enhancing operational safety.
  • Speeding up the integration of AI into industrial processes.

“At TotalEnergies, digital technology is a key enabler of our transformation toward a more sustainable and efficient energy future. Our collaboration with Emerson demonstrates how advanced technologies such as AspenTech Inmation, help us to optimise operations, reduce emissions, and generate long-term value. This collaboration is a sign of our intention to turn data and digital technology into the hallmarks of our facilities,” said Namita Shah, President of OneTech at TotalEnergies.

Emerson’s Inmation technology is a key component of Emerson’s recently announced Project Beyond, the industry’s first software-defined, OT-ready digital platform that integrates and optimises industrial operations.
