The 14th edition of SOGAT was held successfully in Abu Dhabi with nearly 300 participants from 17 countries. ADNOC was the principal supporter of the event with a delegation of 167 from across the group.

SOGAT 2018 focused on enhancing cost-effective sour hydrocarbon treatment technologies. New, innovative technologies were presented by leading technology providers.

Three workshops on sulfur recovery and amine treatment fundamentals and operational improvement of acid gas treatment units with filtration and separation technologies were well attended and received, particularly from members of the ADNOC group.

These workshops followed the international conference, during which 22 presentations on several new aspects of sour hydrocarbon management were delivered.

The conference was officially opened with a keynote address by Dr Adel Bin Subaih of the Undeveloped Reservoirs Project Unit on behalf of the ADNOC group.

Dr. Peter Rodgers and his team from the Khalifa University of Science and Technology were awarded the best SOGAT conference paper presentation.

The event concluded with a closing keynote from Derek Ritchie of Shell, who spoke about the forthcoming challenges faced with sour field development.
