Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. held a ground breaking ceremony for a new plant within the Ichihara Works (Ichihara City, Chiba) to manufacture its hydrocarbon-based synthetic fluid, Lucant.

Lucant is a high performance, hydrocarbon-based, speciality synthetic fluid used primarily as a viscosity modifier. It is used in the most demanding applications including automotive drivelines, industrial lubricants and greases, and by a number of OEMs and global oil marketers. Mitsui was the first manufacturer to offer this synthetic fluid which boasts impressive efficiency and durability.

This investment in additional Lucant capacity will allow Mitsui and its strategic partner, Lubrizol Additives, a segment of The Lubrizol Corp., to meet the evolving and demanding needs of the global lubricants market, whilst becoming a more reliable and secure supply partner.
