Burckhardt Compression's US team has successfully completed a critical 8000 hour overhaul of two Laby® compressors at a major petrochemical facility in Western Pennsylvania, US, delivering both immediate operational improvements and long-term efficiency gains.
The intervention not only ensured the plant could continue pellet production with minimal disruption but also laid the groundwork for a more resilient maintenance strategy.
The project arose from an urgent customer need: the compressors had been in operation for over four years without any prior maintenance, and the plant faced the risk of extended downtime due to a lack of spare parts and special tools. Burckhardt Compression assembled a team of experienced sales professionals, field service technicians, and mechanics to carry out the overhaul. Its work minimised production interruptions and safeguarded the customer’s output.
Beyond the immediate repair, the Burckhardt team provided guidance on which critical parts and tools the plant should stock to avoid future delays. This strategic advice empowers the facility to act more independently in the future while still relying on Burckhardt Compression’s expertise for complex interventions.
The successful completion of this overhaul strengthens the long-term partnership between Burckhardt Compression and the petrochemical operator. With locally available service capabilities and a clearer roadmap for spare parts management, the plant is now better positioned to reduce response times, increase reliability, and optimise its total cost of ownership.
