The strategic collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of LowPCF solutions and support customers in addressing evolving sustainability requirements. During the summit, UPC and BASF exchanged insights with downstream customers on sustainability trends, carbon footprint reduction strategies, and future opportunities arising from the transition to a lower-carbon economy.
UPC highlighted its recently award-winning low-carbon solution, which uses purification and hydrogenation technologies to upcycle waste polyester into a low-carbon, high-performance eco-friendly plasticiser. While conventional recycled plastics are often used in lower-value applications, the plasticiser offers strong performance in colour, purity, odour, heat resistance, and processability, enabling its use in applications with higher material quality requirements.

Building on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in 2024, the new LoI represents the next phase of the UPC- BASF partnership. Both companies will continue to strengthen their collaboration and expand opportunities to bring innovative LowPCF products to customers across Asia Pacific.
