The plant operations are in line with the Indonesian Government's target to substitute import by 35% until 2022. The capacity of the MTBE plant is 128 000 tpy, tapping into the octane booster market that is still reliant on import. The capacity of the B1 plant is 43 000 tpy, 33 000 tpy of which will be absorbed by Chandra Asri’s own operation while the rest is targeted for the domestic market.
The construction of the plants was carried out by Toyo Engineering Corporation and PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik. Both plants are using Lummus petrochemical processing technology.
