CH2M HILL introduces OmniSight

Hydrocarbon Engineering,

CH2M HILL’s Oil, Gas & Chemicals unit has introduced OmniSightSM, a real time unified data management platform for oil and gas companies developing upstream, midstream and downstream projects.

OmniSight is a data integration and delivery platform incorporated with CH2M HILL services that provides oil and gas clients Web-based tools to access and maintain data in real time, bridging the gap between the office and the field. The OmniSight platform combines client data, vendor data, 3rd party data, and a host of other information into one spot, with the capability of supporting the full project life cycle including:

  • Environmental and permitting.
  • Routing/drill site evaluation.
  • Land use/landowner records.
  • Right of way acquisition.
  • Legacy records.
  • Equipment and material logistics.
  • Water supply analysis, acquisition and logistics.
  • Detailed design.
  • Drill site construction, logistics and procurement.
  • Multiple unit cost tracking.
  • Construction progress tracking.
  • Management of change.

Loren Alexander, CH2M HILL VP of Integrated Solutions for Oil, Gas & Chemicals, said: “By linking data from the office and field in real time, OmniSight gives our clients the competitive advantage to make decisions more quickly, proceed more safely and avoid costly delays. No matter where team members are located geographically or what kind of devices they use, users can update data or propose data, and those changes will be seen by everyone immediately, in real time”.

The OmniSight toolset allows users to immediately make updates as well as receive change notifications and propose changes all from their computer, tablet or smartphone.

Anything but a gamble

The art of the turnaround lies in aligning scope, resources and time needed. You need to find the right balance between a short duration and the greatest possible certainty of completing all the work. A Monte Carlo simulation of scheduling can help.

Enhancing operational safety

Gary Farrow, AVEVA, discusses how as-built brownfield assets can enhance operational safety.

No turning a blind eye: Part 2

Look the other way and hope for the best? Not a good idea when managing large shutdown projects where there is always a risk of something going wrong.
