The February 2016 Monthly Energy Review (MER), EIA's primary report of recent and historical energy statistics, was released on 24 February 2016. Preliminary estimates indicate that for November 2015:
- US primary energy consumption totaled 7.7 quadrillion Btu, a 6% decrease from November 2014. Petroleum made up 37% of primary energy consumption, natural gas 30%, coal 14%, renewable energy 11%, and nuclear electric power 8%.
- Compared with November 2014, U.S. petroleum consumption decreased 1%, natural gas consumption decreased 5%, nuclear electric power consumption decreased 7%, and coal consumption decreased 22%.
- Compared with November 2014, total US renewable energy consumption increased 1%. Wind and conventional hydroelectric power consumption each increased 4%, while biomass consumption decreased 3%.
The MER provides monthly and annual data on total energy production, consumption, and trade; energy prices; overviews of petroleum, natural gas, coal, electricity, nuclear energy, renewable energy, and international petroleum; carbon dioxide emissions; and data unit conversions.
