Exolum has renewed the concession for the provision of aviation fuel storage and distribution services at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona – El Prat Airport, as the successful bidder of the tender process called by AENA.
This agreement, which will remain in force for 15 years, provides for an estimated investment of over €50 million on the part of Exolum, with the aim of optimising and modernising the infrastructure currently in place.
The planned investment will contribute significantly to improving the efficiency and safety of the facilities, and facilitate the implementation of environmental and energy improvements to reduce emissions.
Hydrants, manholes, and utility pits will all be upgraded, integrating a high degree of automation to help prevent leaks. Pumping systems to hydrants will also be expanded and upgraded, ensuring more efficient operations at the facility. Investment will also be made to optimise the fire protection system and other control mechanisms within the facility, as well as to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Jorge Guillén, Aviation & Spain Network Lead at Exolum, said: “We are proud to have submitted an exceptional technical and economic bid that has seen us awarded the renewal of this concession. This project not only ensures the continuity of Exolum’s services at Barcelona Airport, one of the most important airports in Spain, but also cements our ongoing commitment to sustainability, innovation, and efficiency”.
