Bolivia
Bolivia’s state owned oil and gas company YPFB has announced plans to expand the country’s two largest refineries. Capacity at the plants will be increased by over 50% and Bolivia plans to spend US$ 22.5 million on the projects. The two facilities account for 90% of Bolivia’s processing capacity.
Brazil
Petrobras has announced that it has enough resources and funding to complete the construction of the port of Suape refinery. The facility is a joint venture between Petrobras and PDVSA. The facility is 35% complete and is expected to be online by the end of 2013 with a processing capacity of 230 000 bpd.
New Jersey
A fire occurred at the Bayway refinery, Linden on 1st June. A crude unit at the ConocoPhillips owned facility and a fluid catalytic cracker has been shut. The fire that broke out in the furnace crude unit hurt one refinery worker.
Texas
The BP owned Texas City refinery exceeded its 20% opacity limit on 1st June. The limit on a unit related to the fluid catalytic cracker was exceeded and filed with state regulators as emissions associated with the event were released for 24 hours.
