Puma Energy, the global integrated midstream and downstream energy company, was honoured today with the 2014 Platts Global Energy Award in the Rising Star Individual category. The Platts Global Energy Awards recognise excellence and innovation by companies and executives throughout the global energy industry. A total of over 200 individuals and companies were finalists for the Global Energy Awards from a pool of 8000 nominees.
The award’s recipient, Puma Energy’s Chief Operating Officer for the Americas, Rodrigo Zavala was selected as winner from a strong group of finalists in this category. According to Platts, “The Rising Star award showcases innovative, vision-oriented leaders that can implement complex, creative strategies and transform companies. Judging criteria is based on achievements, decisiveness, innovation, integrity, leadership, peer recognition and non-financial results.”

Over the past three years Puma Energy has grown from 3000 people to 7000 people and supplying 22 countries to 45 countries. Today, our global network delivers over 15 million m3 of fuel to 23 000 B2B customers and 214 million retail customers annually. This year alone, we have welcomed over 1800 people into our business and expanded our Aviation, Bitumen, LPG and Lubricants offering. Puma Energy was also nominated as a finalist for the Platts Stewardship Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) category. Puma Energy’s global road safety campaign, “Be Road Safe,” just one of its CSR initiatives to raise awareness about the risks associated with driving, and materials have been distributed in 10 languages, including English, Spanish and Swahili.
